Just started dating and it’s long distance right now so don’t know much about her. She’s 36yrs old. Don’t think it will be clothes. She has enough

Odd that you don’t know your girlfriend well enough to buy her a gift, but maybe you can use that to your advantage. Perhaps give her a gift that will share something that you really enjoy, so that the two of you will have a point of conversation for later, e.g. give her a copy of your favorite movie from when you were in high school (or from when you were 8, if you’re so inclined), write a cute note with it saying how much you enjoyed it when you were younger and how you think Christmas is the perfect time to revisit/reminisce about years gone by. In your card, you could further ask about what movies she liked when she was whatever age it was when you liked the movie you gave her (or from the year the movie came out). If movies aren’t likely to be her thing, maybe a book, audiobook, cd, whatever. This way, not only will you get the opportunity to ask her about what she likes/liked, but she’ll get to know you a little better as well.
This works even if your taste was highly questionable back in the day…actually, it’s almost better. You can recount how silly you must have been to have really enjoyed such an awful movie, etc.
The real gift in this is that you are opening a door to get to know each other better
If you feel like a hack giving her something that is your preference, then you could maybe add something on to the gift that’s just for her…like a beverage she would enjoy while watching the movie/reading the book. A teacup and some special box of tea…a coffee mug and a small sample of beans from a place near where you live…a single champagne stem and a split of something festive…just something for her to enjoy when she has a chance to relax.
Hope that at least gets you started with some ideas!

minutes/ringtones for her cell phone
perfume ( go to the mall’s bath and body works and ask for “sweet pea” perfume or lotion, or body wash)
gift card to the spa or salon she goes too
make-up like eye liner or mascara

long distance ? try some really nicely decorated card hand made and snail mail it to her (: i’m sure any lady would be touched if their boyfriends made time to MAKE something for her . even if its not the best of quality, its the thought that counts
