Is Anyone Dating Or Married To Someone Witha Borderline Personality Disorder?

So, I’ve been dating this guy for 3 and a 1/2 years and it has been so rocky. I try my best to accommodate his anti-social behavior by doing things in the comfort of his home (cooking, watching movies, etc) and also his suicidal thoughts which are so tiring especially when he brought in up when my mom was terminally ill recently. Does anyone have any helpful advice for me I would really appreciate it.

Loving a person with borderline personality disorder is too much for most of us.
BPD is characterized by instability in moods, chaotic and unstable interpersonal relationships; self-image, identity, and behavior problems.
These disturbances and the resulting periods of dissociation and/or splitting have a pervasive negative impact on many or all facets of life; his and yours, including work, family and social settings.
Attempted suicide and suicide are possible outcomes, but don’t let him bluff or control you with them. Chances are, if he’s threatening it, he’s not doing it.
Some people can and do recover over time, with proper care and effective treatment. Medication and psychotherapy are the mainstays of treatment.
If you have an Al-Anon family group nearby, it can help you immensely, whether you want to leave him or stay with him. They know and understand what you’re going through.

I would suggest going to therapy, you can even do group therapy where you could go along with him for support. It’s tough, but if you love him just hold on in there. He just needs the right help from the right people. Explore all the different routes.
    Best wishes

You`re in for a long road….borderline is a horrible diagnosis. Maybe you should advise behavioural therapy, and step away for awhile. Trust me.Normally I don`t give up on any mentally ill sufferer, but this affliction tears loved ones apart.

Sounds like you should talk him into seeing a doctor. You never know if he will ever act on those suicidal tendencies. My mother had that problem also and she got help. You can definitely tell a difference when they are on meds.
