How Old Should Kids Be Before They Start Dating?
How old do you think kids be before they start dating? I have a ten year old cousin who has had three boyfriends this year so far. Of course her parents would freak if they found out, but she has them anyway… she tells me everything really, because I am the only guy in the family who wouldn’t freak out on her for dating and making out with boys lol.

I don’t really have a problem with it, just make sure she fully understands what she’s doing. I know eleven year olds that date frequently and make out, so don’t see an issue.

I had a “boyfriend” at age 11. It wasn’t a real one though, rather a male friend that I called my boyfriend. We didn’t make out or anything, it was really harmless and looking back, I think cute. But a 10 year old should not make any sexual experiences yet. That should start later, at 14 or something like that. And a really serious realationship with sex shoudn’t start before the age of 16, in myx opinion. But I think trhat the most important thing isa that parents explain to their children what consequences having sex might have. That is way better than over-controlling them!

My daughter is 10. She had one “boyfriend” in school last year but, they only hung out together at school.
She told me and her dad all about him and we even met him at an open house.
My daughter doesn’t even understand the concept of a “date”. I don’t believe any 10 yr old should.
To be 10 and have had 3 bfs that she has “made out with” is stupid.
I think the idea of keeping it from her parents is what makes it exciting for her. Like others before me have said, she will likely end up pregnant or in a very bad way if she doesn’t slow down.
To answer your question, I think chaperoned dates are okay at 13-14 but no real dating until the child is old enough to understand the consequences.

I don’t think there is any point in Dating.
Relationships are not like car shopping. You don’t just try a bunch out until you finally find the one you want.
Dating shouldn’t occur unless marriage is a possible end. Otherwise its silly play and will get someone hurt or pregnant.
In that case 18. Legal age for marriage.

Well I think if you don’t allow it at all they will just do it behind your backs… I think I’m just gonna wait it out and see what happens. I’m not gonna tell my daughter (she’s 3 by the way) that she can’t date til a certain age, but when she tells me she likes a boy I will set some rules like chaperoned dates until IDK 13 maybe… but we’ll just see how it all plays out. I have a while before I have to worry about that.

For my kids when they finish high school and in college.There is really no point in dating,unless the person is willing to wait to be married and then have sex. 25 and up.

Depending on her maturity level, my husband and I decided that 15 is an appropriate age.

I would say 13 for like “dates”.
Then 14 you are in high school so I think if you are in high school you should be allowed to date.
