Is It The Case That Women In Singles Bars Avoid Isolated Guys And Only Want To Talk To Pairs Of Guys?

It seems to me that a guy going to a singles bar alone is wasting his time, because nobody wants to talk to just a solo guy. I have only ever seen pairs of guys approaching pairs of girls.

Well 20 years ago I went out with 6 women to a restaurant bar and this guy who was alone because he just moved to town and didn’t know anyone yet. He came over to our table alone and he just started asking what are you going to be for halloween to everyone and he just started talking, no pickup lines or anything. Then he bought us all champagne and it locked him into our group. We started dating, he said I was the one he was going for. I thought it took a lot of guts for him to come up to a table of 6 women and just be in. Well, It’s 20 years later now and we’ve been Married for 16 years. We have 2 children and we are happy. So isolated guys at singles bars can work, but it takes some work. But I don’t think it’s the norm.

Usually, guys and girls have a “wing man” to help them out when they approach a man or woman. This makes things less awkward. I mean, really. Wouldn’t it be easier for you to approach a woman with one of your friends flanking you, giving encouragement and helping fill in awkward silences in conversation?
